McAvoy Might Be Fleming, Ian Fleming

By  · Published on December 30th, 2009

I know exactly nothing about James Bond author Ian Fleming besides the fact that he brought the world’s most iconic spy (since Harriet the Spy) to life.

But I’m curious to learn more about the man, which is why a biopic being in the works sounds fantastic. It sounds even more fantastic to hear that Last King of Scotland actor James McAvoy is attached to play the man.

According Pajiba, the actor who has been rumored to play super heroes and hobbits is on board for the project based on the biography “Ian Fleming: The Man Behind James Bond” by Andrew Lycett.

Of course, the project – working title Ian Fleming – will truly focus on the birth of his most famous character as he’s brought into the world from the womb of Fleming’s experienced mind. So, in a way, it’s like a prequel to Dr. No. When you think about it. Or if you don’t think about it too hard.

According to every site that has any information on Ian Fleming, the Bond character is partially autobiographical, which I have to assume means that Fleming once hooked up with a completely gold-painted woman while a man stroking his cat watched on from the corner of the room.

Man, the old country must have been fucked up.

Oh, and they don’t have a director yet, so if you want the job feel to fill out an application over on that desk by the door.

Thoughts? Ruminations?
