The last time we saw Matthew McConaughey in the courtroom, he was fighting slavery in Amistad. Or for slavery. I often forget since it’s been a decade since I saw the film. I do, however, vividly remember those round spectacles he was sporting. Classic McConaughey.
Fortunately, we’ll get to see him flex some legal muscle soon in the forthcoming The Lincoln Lawyer. Ergo propter hoc, Deadline is reporting that Lionsgate has just bought the distribution rights for the film.
I haven’t read the novel by Michael Connelly that the film is based on, but the official summary claims that it focuses on a man doing his lawyering from the backseat of a Lincoln Towncar during a huge case in Beverly Hills.
It sounds like the Hollywood version of Buried. I’m hoping the camera never leaves that backseat.
This, of course, means my headline could be totally incorrect.
