The Punisher is coming for you. Are you ready?
Marvel has been teasing the release of their new Netflix show, The Punisher, for some time now. We know that it is coming out this year, but the hype train keeps on rolling. Netflix has released tweets and teasers for a while now, but they showcased some brutal footage of The Punisher in action.

The found-footage shows The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) sneakily taking down a small troop of soldiers. It’s blink and you miss it type action, but this is only a taste of what will be in store. The spin-off series will be quite a bit different than where we last saw Frank Castle in Daredevil. The vigilante is in hiding until a conspiracy involving his past brings back into action.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bernthal promises that The Punisher will go far further in violence and despair than any other Marvel series thus far adding, “During this show, nobody is who they appear to be… This season is much darker as it goes, it gets darker and darker and more visceral. The show takes you on this journey of Frank becoming more and more human again and then shutting off and shutting off and going back to what works for him, and the place where he kind of belongs, and I think that’s a place of solitude and of darkness and destruction. It’s going to get into as dark and as brutal a place as you’ve ever seen in the Marvel world, I can promise you that.”
If Daredevil season 2 showed us anything about the character, it might be that this will be the most successful attempt to capture just who The Punisher is. There have been many opportunities and attempts but none have come close to the depiction of Frank Castle that Jon Bernthal has created. That makes the wait even more painful. The messages of when exactly we can see The Punisher have been extremely cryptic. Even though there have been plenty of trailers and footage, we don’t have much to go on. All we know for certain is that The Punisher is coming in 2017 and you better be ready because it isn’t going to be pretty.
