Marilyn Monroe Biopic ‘Blonde’ Delayed For Andrew Dominik/Casey Affleck Crime Drama

There’s been talk for quite sometime now of Andrew Dominik’s planned “warts and all” Marilyn Monroe pic starring Naomi Watts titled, Blonde. The film initially had a January start date, but now that seems unlikely. In a recent piece in The New York Times it was revealed that Casey Affleck may be re-teaming with Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford director, and now according to Affleck, it’s true.

While out promoting I’m Still Here, Affleck revealed in an interview with The Kevin and Josh Movie Show on 106.7 HD2 (CBS RADIO – Washington D.C.) that he’s about to reunite with Dominik on a novel adaption, which he says starts in January. But how will this affect Blonde?

Well, January was the planned start date for that as well, but with this news it seems as if it’s going to take a bit longer for us to see that film.

When questioned specifically about what Dominik and he were working on, he only revealed that it’s an adaptation of a crime novel that is set in Boston, “I don’t know if I’m allowed to talk about it, but it’s a Boston-based crime… It’s based on a novel set in Boston, but it’s not going to be set in Boston, unfortunately.” Clearly, fans can forget about the possibility that Affleck was talking about acting in Blonde.

Affleck didn’t reveal much about what he and Dominik were working on past that, but anything that puts those two together should get anyone excited.

This is bittersweet news. On the downside, we’re going to have to wait a little longer for another promising sounding Dominik bio film. On the upside, it’s Affleck and Dominik reuniting. With a start date in January, expect plenty of news on this in the coming months.
