Leighton Meester Finds Some ‘Roommate’ Problems

If you are like me, then you’ve had your share of terrible roommates — the ones that don’t pay the rent, the ones that smell awful and even the ones that steal all of your spoons (long story). But even I have never had a roommate that became obsessed with me and began to stalk me and several of my family members. Then again, I don’t look like Gossip Girl hottie Leighton Meester. I would imagine that the potential for being stalked goes up the higher you are on the hotness scale. And for the record, Meester is at least a 9, if not a 14.

So it will be interesting to see what happens when she stars in director Christian E. Christiansen’s — and yes, that’s his real name — upcoming thriller The Roommate. In the flick, Meester will star as Sara, a college student who is randomly assigned to a freshman dorm with a stranger named Rebecca. Things turn deadly when Rebecca becomes obsessed with Sara and begins targeting people in her life.

This movie has a Single White Female vibe to it, though based on the fact that it is in development at Screen Gems as well as the pedigree of its director, it is likely that it will be cheap horror remake version with a dash of torture porn. Think about what happened when they remade Black Christmas — I’m thinking something along those lines. Alas, this movie is happening no matter what I think. Therefore we should begin speculation on who should play the sexy, creepy roommate. Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) is the obvious choice, as is the re-animated corpse of Chris Farley. I’m thinking that Mary Elizabeth Winstead could pull it off as well. Though I have a feeling it will be someone like Megan Fox, which would be a tragedy — Leighton deserves better than that.

Have you ever had a creepy roommate? Side note: who would you cast opposite Leighton Meester in this film?
