Kristen Wiig Gets Her Drink On in New ‘Girl Most Likely’ Clips
Girl Most Likely, the Kristen Wiig film that premiered last year at TIFF as Imogene, has been shrouded in a bit of mystery since its festival debut. Aside from a trailer that popped up a couple months ago, the film’s marketing department has been fairly quiet. But with Girl Most Likely hitting theaters this Friday, they’ve stepped up their game by releasing some new clips and a slew of stills all at once.
The film, directed by Shari Springer Bergman and Robert Pulcini, centers on Imogene Duncan (Wiig), a troubled woman who is forced to move back in with her estranged mother (Annette Bening) after suffering a nervous breakdown. In her grand return to her childhood home, Imogene quickly realizes that things aren’t quite how she left them; namely that a boarder (Darren Criss) is renting out her old bedroom and mom is currently dating a “CIA agent” named George Bush (Matt Dillon).
Check out the clips below.
The clips give us just a little taste of what’s to come, but it’s clear that Imogene is using her time at home to figure out what to do with the rest of her life – and nursing a hangover or two along the way. Girl Most Likely is likely (ha) to draw comparisons to the other “coming of age a little too late” movie dropping later this summer, Kristen Bell’s The Lifeguard.
Both films deal with 30 year-old women moving back to their hometowns to deal with unsatisfactory lives, have them hooking up with much younger paramours and clashing with parents who just don’t understand. It looks like in the battle of the Kristens, though, Wiig is having more fun.
Girl Most Likely is in theaters July 19th.
