A whole new generation will learn how to paint the fence and wax the car.
It has been a long time since the epic battle between Daniel (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny (William Zabka). Now though, actors Macchio and Zabka are smiling since they are continuing their feud in the YouTube Red series, Cobra Kai. Set 30 years after the events in Karate Kid, the series picks up with what Daniel and Johnny are now doing in their lives.
EW has more information on what exactly these two men have been doing since their iconic fight at the All Valley Karate Tournament. Daniel has been living as a family man and has the number 1 car dealership in the valley. He’s pretty well off and has left karate behind. Johnny’s life, on the other hand, has turned out so well. He’s a heavy drinker and must do random odd jobs to make ends meet. Both of their lives are about to change because when they meet up again, Daniel is enticed to go back to his Cobra Kai roots and reopen the karate dojo where he learned how to be the best around.
The cast will be filled out with plenty of new faces. Courtney Henggeler (Mom) will play Daniel’s wife and business partner, Amanda. She’s the glue that holds the family together and is the rock in Daniel’s life. Mary Mouser (Freakish) will play Daniel and Amanda’s daughter, Samantha, who is dealing with the harsh reality of high school. Xolo Maridueña (Parenthood) looks like he will be future of the Cobra Kai school. Similiar to Daniel, he has a single mother and is facing bullies at school. Martial Arts training might be able to get him past some of his troubles. Rounding out the additions is Tanner Buchanan (Designated Survivor) who plays Johnny’s son and Ed Asner who will guest as Johnny’s step-father.
The ten-episode series will premiere on YouTube Red in 2018.
