Here at Junkfood Cinema, we’ve never been accused of having classical tastes. Still, over the course of this show we’ve focused primarily on the 70s, 80s, and 90s…much like that awful radio station everybody is afraid to admit they listen to.
This month, Cargill and I decided to shine a spotlight on the more contemporary filmmakers already exhibiting the chops needed to one day be JFC legends! These artists have paid their own homage to the great genre flicks of the past, re-imaging and innovating those genres into something fresh and exciting.
First on our list, the one-two gut punch of Adam Green (Hatchet, Frozen) and Joe Lynch (Wrong Turn 2, Knights of Badassdom). Though they work on separate films, these two longtime friends have had staggeringly similar career paths (for better and worse). Whether they’re bringing us gleefully gory slashers or sleek thrillers, we’re sharpening our knives for the day Green & Lynch are household names.
