Board games find a way as Dwayne Johnson and company suit up for a wild new adventure.

Even though quite a bit of time has based on the original Jumanji, the Robin Williams adventure still holds a special place in many hearts. Think of it as the 90’s equivalent of The Goonies. So when Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was announced it was a bit of surprise to learn that the original board game was going to be tossed aside because people don’t play board games anymore. There is a thriving board game scene around the country, but Sony Pictures has decided to go the video game route. Somehow the board game has transformed into a vintage video game. Now Jumanji is a video game that four teenagers play and they get swept into the game. They must win if they hope to survive the game.

Dwayne Johnson revealed the new trailer this morning that goes into greater detail what we can expect from Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle when the film launches this December.

It wouldn’t be all that exciting to just have the four teenagers go directly into the game, they need to inhabit video game avatars as well. This is where the all-star cast of Dwayne Johnson, Keven Hart, Karen Gillan, Jack Black come into play. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle gets to play its own Freaky Friday inspired game this way. Jack Black gets to act as though he is an attractive young woman trapped in a middleaged overweight man’s body. Each one of the characters seem to have their own pluses and minuses, well except for Dwayne Johnson because he is Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and is inherently perfect.

The new trailer goes to great lengths to showcase how these weaknesses will be used in the plot, especially Kevin Hart’s weird weakness of cake. It is a unique weakness, but at least Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle seems perfectly content with rolling with it. We also get to see more of Karen Gillan in her outfit that doesn’t particularly seem to be suited for the jungle. But what do we know, since she insists it will all be explained in good time. We will find out the secret behind the clothing attire and more when Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle hits theaters December 20th.
