You are about to enter The Twilight Zone once again.

Following the success of Get Out, Jordan Peele is a hot commodity in Hollywood. Not only has his film picked up commercial success, it has recently added to its critical success by receiving numerous accolades from critics groups. He is about to be a very busy individual and he has added one more project to his slate, bringing Twilight Zone back to life for CBS.

CBS CEO Leslie Moonves previously expressed his interest in getting the project started once again. Given the success of Star Trek: Discovery on the CBS All-Access platform, Moonves was excited to add another exclusive to the service. What better opportunity than taking the hottest director in Hollywood and mixing his skills with the classic franchise. Now, CBS All-Access has confirmed that the project is moving forward with Jordan Peele, Simon Kinberg, and Marco Ramirez joining as executive producers of the show. All three men will be involved in the bringing the series pilot to life.

Jordan Peele added an official statement to signify the completed deal. “Too many times this year it’s felt we were living in a twilight zone, and I can’t think of a better moment to reintroduce it to modern audiences,” said Peele. Simon Kinberg added his thoughts by declaring, “The Twilight Zone was a touchstone in my life. The opportunity to continue its lineage is a dream come true, and I’m so thrilled to be doing it with Jordan, Marco and the team at CBS All Access.”

The new series will not be the first time the series has been rebooted. It was rebooted with a failed film by John Landis and Steven Spielberg in the ’80s and then again in 2003. Neither of those attempts managed to update the classic show to the modern era, instead, reminding audiences that the original Twilight Zone is the definite version. It originally ran in from 1959-1964 and remains a staple for many families during holiday seasons due to continued play on the SyFy channel and its timeless appeal.

It is an extremely competitive arena that The Twilight Zone will enter with plenty of competition from other shows including Black Mirror. Even though that might be the case, there might not be anyone better suited to bring The Twilight Zone into the modern era than Jordan Peele.
