John Carpenter Is Crazy For Amber Heard In ‘The Ward’

Sure it’s been twenty-three years since John Carpenter made a great movie (Big Trouble In Little China), and since then he’s made three good films and five shitty ones, but I still hold out hope.  One day, he’ll surprise us all and return to form.  Three upcoming movies have previously been announced, including a gangster film (The Prince), a prison film (Riot), and a horror film (L.A. Gothic).

Per the Hollywood Reporter, Carpenter is now attached to a fourth upcoming movie.  The Ward will star Amber Heard as a woman who’s either crazy or being haunted by a terrifying ghost.  Or maybe both.  Heard burst onto the scene as Seth Rogen’s highly improbable girlfriend in Pineapple Express, but has since found herself stuck in good indie films that never see release (All the Boys Love Mandy Lane), indie films that reportedly suck ass (The Informers), and now a John Carpenter movie.  Of course, she also has four more movies in various stages of post-production so the odds are in her favor that at least one of them will get her noticed again.

Is Amber Heard a has-been already?  Will you ever again watch a Carpenter movie in the theater?
