‘Iron Man 3’ Takes an Injury Time-Out

Up to this point, everything has gone pretty smoothly for the folks at Marvel. In all the chaos of building a franchise that churned out the year’s highest grossing film, they are yet to really see any major production problems. Although today brings something new into the fray, an injury to star Robert Downey Jr. that will delay production on Iron Man 3.

In an official statement, Disney and Marvel had this to say:

Robert Downey Jr. sustained an ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 in Wilmington, North Carolina while performing a stunt. There will be a short delay in the production schedule while he recuperates.

It certainly doesn’t sound like anything serious, but it is serious enough to warrant a press release and a delay in production. No change to the May 3, 2013 release date has been made, nor does the production expect to be down for very long. Here’s hoping Mr. Stark can get back to work soon, as this Shane Black-helmed flick is easily one of the most anticipated films of next year.
