What’s New to Stream on Amazon Prime for March 2018

Here’s what’s coming to Amazon Prime this month!
Mr Majestyk

Amazon Prime is the only streaming service with a cost that also gets you free shipping, and that my friends is a deal. They’ve recently gotten into the Original programming game, but their biggest offering remains the ton of films available to watch anytime for Prime members.

The complete list of titles hitting Amazon Prime this month — March 2018 — is below, but first I’m going to shower some affection and point some eyeballs towards a few specific titles.

The Best

I’ve singled out Richard Fleischer’s Mr. Majestyk (1974) previously in a streaming column, but that was for a different service (Hulu) meaning I feel perfectly fine doing it again now. The film remains one of my favorite Charles Bronson features thanks to the simplicity of plot — he’s a melon farmer standing up to a mobster! — a sharp script by Elmore Leonard (which he later adapted into a novel), and a fun lead performance. It’s terrific entertainment, and while I’ve recently picked up Kino Lorber’s Blu-ray of the film I’m probably still going to give it a watch here on Amazon Prime. It’s that good!

On Her Majestys Secret Service

The Bond

Fans of the still-growing James Bond film series will be happy to hear that ten of the debonair spy’s cinematic adventures are hitting the streaming service this month. They’re not all on par with each other, but they offer up a good sampling across four different Bonds and include On Her Majesty’s Secret Service (1969), Moonraker (1979), For Your Eyes Only (1981), A View to a Kill (1985), The Living Daylights (1987), Licence to Kill (1989), Goldeneye (1995), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997), The World is Not Enough (1999), and Die Another Day (2002).

The Little Hours

For the Jesus Freaks

God helps those who help themselves, but I’m going to give you a heads up too in the form of highlighting three films that might appeal to the religious-minded among you. First up is the horror thriller The Devil Inside (2012) which is a bit indirect in its appeal to the faithful, but if the devil exists then so does god. Right? Next is a more traditional Christian film, Let There Be Light (available 3/26), which stars Kevin Sorbo as an atheist who sees the light and converts to Christianity. And finally, The Little Hours (available 3/27) is a comedy about a group of nuns who swear and think about sex. It’s a dirty one, but laughter was invented by god so how bad can it be?

Power Rangers

New… but Best Watched on the Cheap

A trio of new movies are hitting the service this month too, and “free” via Prime is the ideal way to see them as they’re merely okay. Luc Besson’s Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is pretty, but hoo boy is it a miscast dud when it comes to the story, characters, and excitement. Mike White’s Brad’s Status (available 3/2) is perfectly okay, and while Power Rangers (available 3/9) is better than you’d expect it’s still something of a colorful mess.
