The Millennium Series continues to attract exciting new talent to its roster.
Sony skipping the two Stieg Larsson novel’s and moving ahead with the Millennium Series with author David Lagercrantz new trilogy was an interesting move, to say the least. Not only did they just skip two novels, but they also moved away from director David Fincher and stars Rooney Mara and Daniel Craig. How could this possibly work now?
That question seems to be answered with more authority every day. Not only has Sony hired an impressive director in Fede Alvarez to direct the picture, they have collected an eclectic group of talent. The Crown star Claire Foy has already been attached to the project to play the lead role of Lisbeth Salander, while Swedish actor Sverrir Gudnason will be playing Mikael Blomkvist. Now The Holywood Reporter says they have added Get Out and Death Note star Lakeith Stanfield to the roster.
Stanfield will be playing the role of an NSA security expert that is tracking Salander. He is an exciting talent that has shown incredible range in his brief filmography. While his performance was short in Get Out he left a lasting impression and he is easily the best reason to watch Netflix’s Death Note feature. He has two new features premiering at Sundance as well.
There have been other additions to The Girl in the Spider’s Web cast as well. Blade Runner 2049 standout Sylvia Hoeks will be playing Salander’s twin sister Camilla and the cast also includes Mindhunter actor Cameron Britton and The Square star Claes Bang. This will certainly mark the start of a new trilogy since Lagercrantz has already released a sequel to this story and expects the third novel soon.
The Girl in the Spider’s Web opens in theaters on October 5th, 2018.
