These costumes look terrible. It’s hard to believe that in a world that has moved beyond the Batman of the 1960s in so many ways that costumes like this could still make it down the pipeline.
It’s doubly bad that they are coming from the studio that took comic book characters and made them accessible by making them inhabitants of the real world.
From the beginning, Thor was going to be faced with the production challenge of integrating a God into the scientific mix or Iron Man and Hulk, but why they decided to make it tougher on themselves is a complete mystery.

This looks like it was made in the 80s. Poorly.
It may have cost a pretty penny, but all of those plastic chest protectors look cheap. In fact, they’ll probably be selling the exact same model to your 5 year old at Toys ‘R’ Us. You didn’t even know you had a kid, did you?
Costumes get talked about a lot in the fanboy world, and there’s usually an intense amount of melodrama and overreaction. Even with that in mind, these suits stand as a bad omen for the rest of the film’s tone.
Either that, or Thor shares a costume designer with Clash of the Titans.
Plastics make it possible.
