George Clooney Finds More 'Men Who Stare at Goats'

George Clooney is currently in theaters with Burn After Reading, a comedy that pokes fun at greed, stupidity, and the CIA. One of his upcoming projects, The Men Who Stare at Goats, looks to do the same thing but with the benefit of being based on a supposedly true story documented in the book by UK columnist Jon Ronson. Clooney will play Lyn Cassady, a man claiming to be an ex-psychic soldier for the US military who gets called back to duty after 9/11. The title refers to the super secret training he received on how to blow up goats with his mind. I’m sure the training would also have worked for enemy tanks, helicopters, and soldiers as well.

Per The Hollwood Reporter, Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges, and Kevin Spacey will all be joining in on the pyrotechnic herding fun. McGregor will play a reporter who comes across the story accidentally. Bridges and Spacey will both play former psychic soldiers alongside Clooney. The book is set mostly in Iraq and follows the reporter’s travels throughout the country searching for evidence of the super secret military program.

The Men Who Stare at Goats is due in 2010, and I fully expect it to be awesome. All four of these guys can do fantastically absurdist and/or subtle comedy extremely well, and this movie should be no exception.

"Rob is great. He likes movies. He writes about them. And he's a good person."
