Twice in one week with some fresh Game of Thrones notes to share. This is my kind of week. Yesterday I showed you a behind the scenes feature in which Pedro Pascal tells a wonderful story from the set. Today we are digging back into the Blu-ray/DVD special features of season 4 with some Westeros history lessons. One of the most engaging things about George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire universe is the depth of history and lore that goes along with the stories we love. Whether it’s part of Martin’s massive book series, the numerous supplemental book releases or the fleshed out histories around the show, there’s so much room to play when it comes to Westeros. So little history lessons such as the ones we’re about to watch are always fun and intriguing.

Our second clip focuses on that which poses the most threat to ice: Dragons. Maester Aemon (Peter Vaughn) narrates this history of the greatest weapon Westeros has ever seen, a weapon his own Targaryen family used to conquer everything from The Wall to Dorne. There’s a princess with a few dragons, but even so they are still mysterious breed. It’s time that we learned more about the fire-breathing titans of Westeros:

Game of Thrones season 4 is currently available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD. Season 5 debuts on April 12. Which is 47 days, but who’s counting? Stay tuned for more via our Blog of Thrones.
