The Wild Cards

Aeron Greyjoy

Thrones Characters Aeron

Last seen: Season 6, Episode 5, “The Door

Where we left off: Euron Greyjoy’s brother and Theon and Yara’s uncle, Aeron has forgone any right to Iron Islands leadership, instead opting to serve the Drowned God. The last time we saw him, he had just performed the unorthodox traditional baptism for the new king, Euron.

Daario Naharis

Daario Naharis

Last seen: Season 6, Episode 10, “The Winds of Winter”

Where we left off: A former sellsword turned Daenerys’ lover and co-right-hand-man, Daario exited the game board in the season six finale, when Dany told him she couldn’t bring him to Westeros. This ousting conveniently came after Tyrion gained favor with Dany, and rejected Daario was left to oversee new leadership in Meereen.

Archmaester Ebrose

Thrones Characters Ebrose

Last seen: Season 7, Episode 5, “Eastwatch”

Where we left off: Grumpy archmaester Ebrose appears only in season seven, teaching Sam tough lessons at the Citadel. Skepticism and procedure rule his life and keep him from believing Bran’s urgent message about the White Walkers. Last we checked, Ebrose and his maester pals were discussing Sam’s brother and father, whose deaths they kept a secret from the young scholar.

Eddison Tollett

Thrones Characters Edd

Last seen: Season 7, Episode 1, “Dragonstone”

Where we left off: Known in the books as Dolorous Ed, Tollett is a Night’s Watch member who’s been with Jon through thick and thin. When Jon leaves the wall, he is named Lord Commander in his absence, and he warily greets Bran Stark and Meera Reed when they appeared at the gates of Castle Black.

Edmure Tully

Thrones Characters Edmure

Last seen: Season 6, Episode 8, “No One”

Where we left off: Edmure Tully has been through some shit. After the Stark ally was the groom in the Red Wedding, he was kept captive by Walder Frey for three seasons. Later, in a tense standoff at Riverrun, Tully was almost freed but ended up imprisoned yet again by a combined army of Lannisters and Freys. He isn’t mentioned when Arya comes along soon after and kills all the Frey men.

Gendry

Gendry

Last seen: Season 7, Episode 6, “Beyond the Wall”

Where we left off: The last living person with Baratheon blood, bastard Gendry is retrieved from hiding by Davos and, along with his trusty hammer, brought to Jon Snow. Gendry, Jon, Sandor Clegane, and members of the Brotherhood Without Banners all soon head north, where they witness the army of White Walkers. He’s last seen collapsing in front of Davos at Eastwatch, where he passes along Jon’s message asking Dany for help.

Hot Pie

Thrones Characters Hotpie

Last seen: Season 7, Episode 2, “Stormborn”

Where we left off: Perhaps Westeros’ most helpful baker, Hot Pie has relayed vital bits of information to Pod, Brienne, and Arya over the past two seasons. Last we checked, he was telling Arya about The Battle of the Bastards and the explosion at the Sept of Baelor. The two former friends exchange kind words, and as Arya left she told Hot Pie to try not to die, to which he responds that they’re both survivors.

The Remaining Freys

Thrones Characters Freys

Last seen: Season 7, Episode 2, “Dragonstone”

Where we left off: At the beginning of season seven Arya Stark, disguised as Walder Frey, kills a whole host of Freys in retaliation for the Red Wedding. She spares the female members of the family.

Howland Reed

Thrones Characters Howland

Last seen: We’ve never actually met present-day Howland, but see him in Bran’s visions in “Oathbreaker” (Season 6, Episode 3) and “The Winds of Winter” (Season 6, Episode 10).

Where we left off: In the book series, Meera and Jojen Reed’s father is a bog-dwelling lord who never leaves his home. As the show’s only living person to witness the scene of Jon Snow’s birth, he’s also one of the most theorized-about characters on this list despite having incredibly limited screen time. As it stands, Meera just left Bran to head back to her dad.

Ilyn Payne

Thrones Characters Ilyn

Last seen: Season 2, Episode 9, “Blackwater”

Where we left off: The Lannisters’ mute executioner hasn’t been seen since season two, although a reappearance shouldn’t be ruled out thanks to his significance as Ned’s killer and Podrick Payne’s relative.

Jaqen H’ghar

Thrones Characters Jaqen

Last seen: Though it’s unclear whether everyone played by Tom Wlaschiha is the same person, the last time we see the assassin with his face is in Season 6, Episode 8, “No One.”

Where we left off: The real Jaqen H’ghar disappeared at the end of season two after granting Arya three kills like some kind of assassin genie. We likely won’t see him again since he announced himself dead and changed his face, yet Arya met another Faceless Man–this one much more sinister–at the House of Black and White in Braavos. This person, who in turn looks like an old man, Jaqen, and a girl called the Waif in turn, finally declared Arya successfully “no one” after a series of mind-bending tests.

Lyanna Mormont

Lyanna Mormont

Last seen: Season 7, Episode 2, “Stormborn”

Where we left off: Bear Island’s child head of house is practical and formidable in all matters. Most recently, in a meeting of lords, she claps back at skeptical Lord Robett Glover and supports Jon’s order to train everyone over the age of 10 in preparation for the oncoming White Walker invasion.

Meera Reed

Thrones Characters Meera

Last seen: Season 7, Episode 4, “The Spoils of War”

Where we left off: Meera has been through a lot with Bran, namely the latter’s transformation into a detached mystical being and the deaths of her brother Jojen as well as trusty companion Hodor. After hearing about the pending White Walker invasion and confronting Bran about his lack of human feeling, Meera leaves him at Winterfell and journeys home to be with her family.

Nymeria the direwolf

Thrones Characters Nymeria

Last seen: Season 7, Episode 2, “Stormborn”

Where we left off: Arya has an emotional reunion with Nymeria in season seven, asking the companion to travel with her to Winterfell, but she eventually leaves the direwolf to her pack after saying, “That’s not you.”

Robin Arryn

Thrones Characters Robin

Last seen: Season 6, Episode 4, “Book of the Stranger”

Where we left off: Yes, this little twerp is still hanging out in the Vale, probably throwing someone out the moon door as we speak. In season six, he’s trying (and failing) to take up archery and proving once again that he isn’t the sharpest shard of dragonglass in the realm when Littlefinger easily talks him into marching his armies north for Sansa.

Selwyn Tarth

Thrones Characters Tarth

Last seen: Tarth has never been shown on screen but has been mentioned many times throughout the series.

Where we left off: Brienne’s father is a wealthy man and the Lord of Evenfall, and he offers to pay her ransom when she’s captured back in season three. Brienne has mentioned him often, saying that he tried to connect her to suitors, but ultimately trained her to be a warrior after realizing that’s what she wanted.

The Remaining Tarlys

Thrones Characters Tarly

Last seen: Season 6, Episode 6, “Blood of My Blood”

Where we left off: After the loot train attack, Sam’s father and brother–Randyll and Dickon–were taken captive by Dany and burned alive when they refused to bend the knee. The archmaesters of the citadel keep this information from Sam. Meanwhile, Melessa and Talla Tarly remain at Hornhill, last seen at a heated family dinner during which they defended Sam against Randyll’s remarks. Talla, arranged to be married to Symun Fossoway, is presumably now the head of the house.

Tycho Nestoris

Thrones Characters Tycho

Last seen: Season 7, Episode 4, “The Spoils of War”

Where we left off: As a representative of the Iron Bank, Nestoris doesn’t seem like a character to look out for, but we last saw him making a deal with Cersei. The Queen repaid the Lannisters’ mounting debts in a single payment, then spoke with Tycho about getting the support of a group of sellswords called the Golden Company.
