A mashup tribute to the year’s most explosive TV episode.

Even if you didn’t catch the latest episode of Game of Thrones, you no doubt have heard about and/or seen clips or shots from the truly epic Dragon Battle that took place. If somehow you have no idea what I’m talking about, perhaps it’s best you click away now lest ye be spoiled.

Anywho, the bottom line is, all hell broke loose and fire literally rained from the sky; it was without question one of the most visually-spectacular moments in the history of the show, the network, and the medium, and it made more impressions online than a video of Trump taking a shot of Stoli out of Putin’s bellybutton in the Lincoln bedroom..

Naturally, then, I’ve been expecting some great videos about the battle, only I wasn’t quite expecting one so quick, and so spectacular. It comes from Evan Puschak, a.k.a. The Nerdwriter, one of the internet’s foremost media essayists, and it painstakingly recreate the battle’s highlights using a slew of other films instead of Game of Thrones, including Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Mongol, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Apocalypse Now, The Revenant, and more. This is must-see stuff right here that both traces the evolution of epic fantasy battles onscreen and demonstrates Game of Thrones’ visual superiority.
