The final wave of titles playing Fantastic Fest is here.
Two weeks. Fourteen days. How ever many hours that works out to be. We’re getting close to Fantastic Fest 2016, and our excitement continues to grow. See? Look! It’s growing even as I type this. The third and final wave of titles have been announced for the fest, and as was the case with the first two the list of films playing this year has us wishing it was already September 22nd.
New films from Kim Jee-woon (I Saw the Devil, The Good the Bad the Weird), J.A. Bayona (The Orphanage, The Impossible), André Øvredal (Trollhunter), Naco Vigalondo (Timecrimes), and the Mo Brothers (Killers, Macabre) will be playing alongside others that promise to surprise us.
There’ll be some non-film fun too including two musically-related experiences. The RZA is overseeing a live re-scoring of The Shaw Brothers classic, The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, and Fabio Frizzi will doing a live re-score of Lucio Fulci’s The Beyond off-site.
I won’t pretend to understand screening or seeing television episodes at film festivals, but those of you who enjoy such things may be delighted to hear that the first episode of HBO’s upcoming Westworld series will also be playing as well as the first two eps of Ash vs Evil Dead’s second season.
But if you’re like me, a film fest is all about the films. Keep reading to see the third and final batch of titles set to play Fantastic Fest!
AGE OF SHADOWS
