Earlier this year, Daniel Day-Lewis was awarded the Best Actor Academy Award for a stunning, method-acted performance in There Will Be Blood. Next year should be Josh Brolin’s time to shine. In fact, the Academy should already be engraving his name on the little statue if Saturday’s developments are any indication of his dedication to the craft.
After getting arrested on bar brawlin’ charges, it seems clear that Brolin is attempting to channel the actual George W. Bush to really sink into his role for Oliver Stone’s upcoming film W. The next think you know, Brolin will be claiming he didn’t inhale the cocaine he was doing while cheerleading in college or crashing cars harmlessly into trees while blowing a .20 BAC on the breathalyzer.
According to the Shreveport Times, Brolin and some others involved in the production were arrested at the Stray Cat bar after tensions escalated during the arrest of a bar patron. The actor and his cohorts allegedly halted police progress in arresting the man, and got hauled off to the lockup themselves.
Most got away with $334 bonds, but W lighting technician Eric Felland was arrested on public intoxication, and charges of entering and remaining, and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $752.
It’s still unclear whether the arrest will set back the production which is slated to have a finished product in front of audiences in exactly 96 days.
