All 62 movies listed best to worst, by category and all together.

We’ve given you our predictions. We’ve told you how to see all of this year’s recognized films. Now it’s time, a mere two days ahead of the big show, to reveal our ranking of all the 2017 Oscar nominees. And by “our” I mean just mine. None of the other FSR writers or editors gave their say, so if you take any issue with my placement of Nocturnal Animals or Hacksaw Ridge or whatever, you can come at me or just share your disagreement.

In all, there are 62 titles, features and shorts, and I’ve seen every one of them. And I’m not just ready to order them together for one long list based on overall value (yes, I clearly believe documentaries are better than dramas), I’m also here to rank them within each of the Academy Awards categories based on their worth in those departments. Meaning Fences and Nocturnal Animals may rank very high for its acting but not anywhere else.
