A compilations of contenders.
With less than a month before the 89th annual Academy Awards take place, the excitement is mounting, especially if you’re one of the 47 feature films in contention for Oscar gold. And I don’t know about you, but around this time every year I get a little feverish trying to get my eyes on as many of the nominated films as possible, if only to have a better chance at taking this year’s betting pool. But often times it just isn’t possible. Forget the fact that there are so many films to see, some of them – like certain documentaries or foreign films – won’t be on Blu-Ray or streaming before the ceremony takes place. So then what’s a film freak to do?
It’s not quite the same as getting all 47 films under your belt, but thanks to Cineplex you can at least become acquainted with the nominees via this uber-efficient two-and-a-half minute compilation of clips from every single feature in contention for an Academy Award this year, from the ones you’re maybe tired of hearing about – La La Land, Moonlight – to those you might not have heard of until they were put up for an award, like A Man Called Ove or Fire at Sea.
So check out the video to get up to speed, and if you want to know more about certain nominees that pique your interest, just hop back to the FSR homepage and search by title; chances are, one of our stalwart critics has published a review.
