Diablo Cody to Add Hipness to All of Spielberg’s Ideas

Diablo CodyIt would appear, at least for now, that legendary filmmaker and noted summer movie money monger Steven Spielberg plans to forgoe the long-awaited adaptation of Indiana Jones: The Polka Musical. Instead, Spielberg is looking to bring the hipness to the new era of Dreamworks Motion Pictures by putting his ideas in the hands of Oscar-winning screenwriter and fabulous shoe wearer Diablo Cody.

According to reports in notoriously legitimate trade rag Variety, the Juno scribe has been tapped to put Macbook to Final Draft on a currently untitled comedy at Dreamworks that is based on an original idea by Spielberg. This would mark the second time that Spielberg has called upon Cody to play doctor with one of his ideas, as they recently collaborated on the Showtime series “The United States of Tara.”

Spielberg first laid eyes on Cody while she was making the rounds with Juno, long before Jason Reitman was ever attached to the project. As Variety reports, Spielberg had considered directing the flick — a choice that could have been quite catastrophic. Can you imagine Juno going off to find the lost crystal baby carriage of Foshizzland and meeting a greasy-haired Shia LaBeouf along the way? And what if Juno popped out an alien baby? Craziness, I tell ya.

This appears to be yet another in a long line of professional adoptions for Spielberg, who has recently taken the likes of Shia LaBeouf under his wing. My guess is that she will be writing big summer blockbusters with kick-ass attitude by 2010. Anyone else want in on that pot?

As for this untitled comedy, no producers are attached as of yet so we have absolutely no idea when it might see theaters.

Oh, and Diablo Cody used to be a stripper — in case you forgot.
