David Lynch Says He’s Lost Touch With Hollywood

“I don’t know anything about Hollywood today,” said David Lynch to Reelz Channel. Lynch also admitted that he wouldn’t want his parents to see any of his films with the possible exception of Elephant Man.

He talked about his website (www.davidlynch.com), “up about a year,” which has links to his store featuring such items as Distorted Nudes Book ($62.80 “80 page book containing images of UWE Shield Rescanned in low-res format, manipulated by David Lynch”), DVDs, CDs, Photos, Posters, Pins and Buttons. He even sells coffee (Organic House Roast, Organic Espresso, and refills).

One of the best things on site is his Daily Weather Report. These short films with Lynch himself giving current date and L.A. weather (“the sky is blue”) is not without charm, especially with Eraserhead hair.

He says that “Davidlynch.com was created to deliver original video content (series) written, produced, directed by David Lynch available exclusively via internet.”

You can buy Inland Empire for $14.92 ($19.99 at Amazon.com), and see theatrical schedule, trailers, stills and video blog, though much of the site seems to be a work in progress.

Like his films, Lynch seems quite otherworldly in the Reelz interview, like all those weird things in his head aren’t imaginary.
