Dailymotion has become the latest media website to begin actively funding independent film projects, but the projects aren’t limited to traditional formats. Now, filmmakers looking to make short films, web series, music videos, mash-ups or anything they can creatively justify can submit to snag a part of a $50,000 purse that’s going to be split between 5–10 different crews.
Calling it their MotionMaker Fund, the 2nd largest video website (behind, you know) requests submissions come in by January 31, 2013 and have more information on how to pitch to them. A panel of judges will choose honorees based on “originality, viability and viral potential.”
Read the rules and everything, but this sounds like yet another excellent opportunity for those with vision but without cash to see something come to fruition. Now you can finally get that dolphin detective web series off the ground. Finally. Then everyone who laughed at you will bow down. (Good luck to all who enter.)
