Buried in a Car for 127 Hours: The ‘Wrecked’ Trailer

With hints of both Ryan Reynolds and James Franco’s one-man shows as well as a plot that comes achingly close to J.G. Ballard’s “Concrete Island,” the new trailer for Wrecked shows Adrien Brody with no one to act against but himself at the bottom of a ravine. Fortunately, his leg is trapped in a wrecked car, and he has no idea who he is.

The trailer builds on that tension and reveals who he is, what he’s done, and which hallucinations are probably going to drive him furthest down the trail of insanity.

Check it out for yourself:

The tension is definitely there, and there’s no doubt that Brody can act the hell out of a scene.

For some reason though, this feels a little standard – probably because we’ve had time to acclimate to the one-man-stuck-somewhere-near-death plot device here lately. I fear I might just be waiting for him to cut his arm off and use it to paddle down the river. Or, gasp, maybe the trailer isn’t showing its best parts.

To be sure, though, this flick looks like it could deliver some harrowing moments and some great dramatic moments for Brody to squeeze out.

According to Apple, it’s available right now on iTunes and will see select theaters on April 1st, giving you the perfect opportunity to tell your special someone that you’ll be going to see a romantic Adrien Brody movie and then sleep on the couch after yelling “April Fool’s!”

Would you go see it?
