Brett Ratner Admits Involvement in God of War Movie

God of War

If there is anyone who needs to do a little bit of setting the record straight, it is Brett Ratner. Though, I would surmise that the Rat isn’t really looking to get that spotlight off of himself, as he has been one of the most talked about non-working directors of 2008. Other than directing a slice of New York, I Love You, Ratner will not release a feature film in this calendar year. But that hasn’t stopped him from making headlines. His rumored involvement in everything from Playboy, the biopic of Hugh Hefner, to Beverly Hills Cop 4 to a Guitar Hero movie has kept him square in the sights of the throngs of internet fankids.

And this week, as if to ice the publicity-mongering cake, Ratner confirmed his involvement in the God of War video game series adaptation to the folks at UGO. He will be tagged in by the folks at Universal Pictures, who recently secured the movie rights to the popular video game created by Sony Computer Entertainment in 2005.

Set in ancient Greece, the game follows the battles of the warrior Kratos, who tackles mythological beasts including Medusa, Cyclops and the Hydra. Players navigate Kratos on his quest to find Pandora’s Box and destroy Ares, the god of war.

Of course, for Brett Ratner fans, this is probably a good thing — the more the merrier. His full slate of films over the next few years could make him among the busiest directors in Hollywood. For the rest of us, it is more waiting game — waiting to see which Brett Ratner will show up. There is the Brett Ratner who has shown vision, directing movies like The Family Man and Executive Producing shows like Prison Break; then of course, there is the Brett Ratner who failed miserably directing X-Men: The Last Stand and producing Code Name: The Cleaner. Either way, there is one thing that is clear: it appears that Brett Ratner the topic won’t be going by the wayside anytime soon.

Which Brett Ratner do you think will show up with God of War? Also, what are your feelings in general about Ratner the director?
