We saw an extended version of this fight scene at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. The battle reaches Raid-like violence before collapsing into exhaustion. I certainly appreciate the sound design as well as the choreography. The blades seem to slice through oxygen molecules, and the punches land with tremendous impact.
Yet, like the tumbles we’ve seen between Clint and Natasha in The Avengers and Civil War, the brawl climaxes on a lighter note. It’s just a scuffle between siblings. Natasha chimes, “It’s good to see you too, Sis.”
Yelena jumps on the back of Natasha’s bike, and they speed off into battle. Little men scatter in their wake.
“We have unfinished business.” Natasha stands from a massive pile of wreckage while a caravan of SUVs screeches into view. Take note of Natasha’s outfit. We’ll see that suit again, but on another Widow.
Yelena and Natasha jump upon a metal chimney and ride it across a chasm between apartments. Joining them is another assassin from the Red Room. Hard to make out the identity of the third actress. It could be Rachel Weisz, but I don’t think so. Natasha’s mission may be to finally close the doors on the Red Room, preventing countless others from suffering the catastrophic indoctrination she went through.
Natasha explains, “We have to go back to where it all started.” Mother Russia. Snowy mountain fortress. Donning white camouflage, Natasha infiltrates the base via a Helicopter swing.
