“Everything happens for a reason.”
Netflix has been slowly revealing season 4 of Black Mirror with trailers that introduce all six new episodes. Now, as reviews are coming out for the season, they have revealed the official release date. Season 4 will be available on Netflix on a Black Friday, December 29th, 2017 to be exact.
Fans must’ve figured it was only a matter of time before Black Mirror was added to the release schedule given the PR train was running at full speed. This new trailer showcases bits and pieces from all six new episodes: Crocodile, Hang the DJ, Arkangel, Metalhead, USS Callister, and Black Museum.
For a long time, there have been two camps when it comes to Black Mirror. One that completely adores the concept and ideas from series creator Charlie Brooker. Another that cannot deal with the utter bleakness that each episode seems to hold dear. Regardless of where you sit, Black Mirror has paved the way for countless copycats and revivals, making it a landmark program in its own right. And the best part of an anthology series is that even if you don’t like one episode, another might be the one that hooks you.
Here is the official synopsis for season 4:
Black Mirror is an anthology series that taps into our collective unease with the modern world, with each stand-alone episode a sharp, suspenseful tale exploring themes of contemporary techno-paranoia. Without questioning it, technology has transformed all aspects of our lives; in every home; on every desk; in every palm – a plasma screen; a monitor; a Smartphone – a Black Mirror reflecting our 21st Century existence back at us.
Who knows when we’ll be getting more Black Mirror after season 4. Charlie Brooker had only signed a deal with Netflix for 12 new episodes and season 4 would complete that deal. Hopefully, they work something out so that we can get more Black Mirror.
