A video that needs no description.
The only constant, so they say, is change. And certainly if you look out the window at the world around us, or even in the mirror, you have to admit it sounds true. But I pose another constant, at least for those of us alive today: the Simpson’s couch gag.
For the last 28 years every Sunday night – not to mention the innumerable syndication airings – Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie have all simultaneously raced for the living room couch, hoping to score a prime seat in front of the boob tube, to various hilarious results.
The best of these gags have been collected into the following four-minute video by editor Cartouche. The selected scenes span the entire series and a spectrum of impact, from slapstick to surreal to serious and even solemn. The couch gag, like The Simpsons themselves, is an American institution, nay, it’s a global one, and this is a tribute befitting its status. Sound off on this post’s tweet on @OnePerfectShot and let us know your favorite couch gag of all time.
