Arrested, Still In Development

If there’s anything we’ve learned over the years, it’s that “there’s always money in the banana stand!” That being said, there’s also always money in Fox’s lost hit, Arrested Development. The long standing rumor has been confirmed by George Bluth Sr. himself that the show is being made into a movie. Before you go getting too excited and slapping on a pair of cutoff shorts, let it be said that neither Ron Howard nor Mitchell Hurwitz has officially come out and said yes yet.

Both Jeffrey Tambor and Jason Bateman have said that a film version is planned for 2009. This adaptation has been a long time coming and maybe (no pun intended) fans will finally get what they’ve been looking for: a proper ending.

Fox gave Arrested Development the axe in 2006, even though it had won six Emmys as well as a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor (Jason Bateman). Not too shabby. But even with a strong fan following, Fox just didn’t get the rating numbers they needed to keep the show going.

Fans of the dysfunctional Bluth family, no doubt already know this information and are reliving Motherboy XXX as we speak. While the official word has yet to be given, I think it’s safe to say that the film will become a reality in the next year.
