And Now ‘Green Hornet’ Has No Villian

There have been so many speedbumps and problems for what should be a relatively simple film to make that after The Green Hornet hits theaters, film geeks will have a cool new game to play. It’ll be a lot like Bingo (as in “That’s a Bingo!”) but letters and numbers will be replaced by actors and directors quitting or being hired. I have no idea how they’ll fit all those people in the tumbler, but it’s not for me to work out the details. Suffice it to say, it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Plus, now you can add Nicolas Cage to your card if you’re playing along at home.

According to The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog, Cage has officially dropped out after failing to reach an agreement with Columbia. I have to imagine that this has something to do with money, but it’s also possible that his Toupee Clause wasn’t written exactly as he’d like.

Instead of listing the litany of ups and downs the project has seen, let’s just all sit back and appreciate that this is the first one that’s happened since the cameras actually started rolling. Luckily, Cage hadn’t donned a costume and stood in front of any lenses saying lines and moving around yet, so the production won’t have that to worry about. But they do have to worry about filling the role as quickly as possible or risk wasted time and wasted funds.

I hear Don Cheadle is available.

What do you think?
