AMAZON ADAPTING MARTIN SCORSESE’S ‘THE DEPARTED’ INTO SERIES

Warner Bros TV and Plan B will be joining with Amazon to develop a series based on Martin Scorsese’s The Departed. Jason Richman who was writer and creator of program Detroit 1–8–7, among others, is currently slated to write the pilot and work as an executive producer.

The Best Picture winner, The Departed (a remake of Hong Kong film Infernal Affairs), about crime and corruption in a Boston police department infiltrated by an Irish gang will serve as inspiration for the series. As of yet, no actors or directors are attached. The show will transfer the action to present-day Chicago, and be about a young cop sent to infiltrate a ruthless Latino gang, while they plant a man simultaneously in the police department.

It seems unlikely at this point that Martin Scorsese will be involved, though we’d love to see him do a limited fiction series for the small screen.
