Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard Slay Nazis and Hearts in The First Allied Trailer

What would you do if you thought your wife was cheating on you with the Third Reich?

While a world full of celebrity-obsessed people mourn the loss of Brangelina, Brad Pitt’s movie career is full steam ahead thanks to Paramount releasing this opportunistically timed trailer for Allied. In the film, directed by Robert Zemeckis, Pitt plays a soldier who meets a kindred spirit (Marion Cotillard) in Africa during World War II. They fight for the allied cause, fall in love, move back to the home front and get married. That is, until it is revealed that she may be playing both sides.

That’s what I’ve gleaned from this first 60-second trailer. Here’s the official synopsis for good measure:

Allied is the story of intelligence officer Max Vatan (Pitt), who in 1942 North Africa encounters French Resistance fighter Marianne Beausejour (Cotillard) on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Reunited in London, their relationship is threatened by the extreme pressures of the war.

Allied hits theaters on November 23. It’s directed by Robert Zemeckis from a script by Eastern Promises scribe Steven Knight. It also stars Lizzy Caplan, Matthew Goode, Raggey Cassidy, Charlotte Hope, and Jared Harris.
