Oprah, Reese Witherspoon, and others share never been seen footage of the Ava DuVernay film.

There is one thing many of us can agree on. There just hasn’t been enough footage from A Wrinkle in Time available. Disney decided to change that today when they released a new behind-the-scenes video of the upcoming Ava DuVernay film. There is some new footage here that wasn’t in the latest trailer. Regardless of what you think about A Wrinkle in Time, there is little doubt that this is the biggest risk Disney has taken in years. Certainly, a film featuring Oprah, Chris Pine, Reese Witherspoon and others doesn’t seem that farfetched as a success, but this is still an expensive, diverse, blockbuster of the likes we rarely see. Ava DeVernay has been given the keys to do something really special and there is a good chance she fulfills her goal.

Featurette Synopsis:

From visionary director Ava DuVernay comes Disney’s “A Wrinkle in Time,” an epic adventure based on Madeleine L’Engle’s timeless classic which takes audiences across dimensions of time and space, examining the nature of darkness versus light and, ultimately, the triumph of love. Through one girl’s transformative journey led by three celestial guides, we discover that strength comes from embracing one’s individuality and that the best way to triumph over fear is to travel by one’s own light.

The short video includes comments from many members of the cast including DuVernay, Oprah, Mindy Kaling, and Witherspoon. They seem to stress how inclusive the entire shoot was and that even though there was so much diversity among the cast members, that simply didn’t matter at all. Especially when it comes to the heroine Meg (Storm Reid), a young black girl with curly hair that anyone can relate to. No matter what their sex or ethnicity. This is the first original Disney property in some time, so there is a lot of hope resting on the shoulders of A Wrinkle in Time.

A Wrinkle in Time hits theaters on March 9th, 2018.
