Why Watch? David and Kate are in a rut. A kind of ridiculous, awkward, completely banal moment in their relationship where conversations about frozen yogurt rank higher on the regularity scale than sex does. Seeing a need and wanting to fill a need, they make an agreement to either copulate for the first time in two months or call it quits.
This short from Michael Callahan is an uncomfortably real view on a common problem. One of intimacy, not necessarily orgasms. It’s a bit of an emotional punching bag as the situation forces the couple to push beyond their passive aggression, striving to find the depth of their original connection and not quite getting there.
Impressively acted, there’s a richness and complexity created (and built upon) in a very brief amount of time.
