Brush up on this year’s Academy Awards contenders with a surprisingly moving supercut.

The Oscar nominations were announced on Tuesday, signaling that the end of awards season is near. While 2017 had its ups and downs for the rest of the world, it was a fairly consistent year for great movies, with two of the Best Picture nominees, Get Out and Dunkirk, released outside of the traditional Oscar season calendar. Now to help us all brush up on this year’s contenders, the movie theater chain Cineplex has compiled a supercut of the nominees.

Set to one of the most affecting film moments this year — Michael Stuhlbarg, our Performer of the Year, delivering his climactic monologue in Call Me by Your Name — the video includes moments from all of the movies up for Best Picture mixed with films nominated in other categories, including Baby Driver, Kong: Skull Island, Coco, and Wonder.

The supercut is surprisingly moving and offers yet more reason to be disappointed in Stuhlbarg’s lack of a nomination for his tender performance this year. His moving speech about love, loss, and despair goes well with clips of Elisa and the Amphibian Man’s love story from The Shape of Water, Tonya Harding’s abuse in I, Tonya, and the bond between Logan and Laura in Logan.

Although the Oscars ceremony is just over a month away, there is plenty of time to look back at the movies you might have missed. As the Academy focuses on avoiding another envelope mix-up this year, watch the video below to reflect on the great year of cinema we’ve had.
