‘We’re the Millers’ Red Band Trailer: Same Old Jokes With an Extra Helping of Swear Words

By  · Published on August 2nd, 2013

It’s likely you’ve already seen 8,000 ads for We’re the Millers, director Rawson Marshall Thurber’s latest comedy. But if you have some raw, unstoppable urge to see what a We’re the Milers trailer would be like with the addition of several F-bombs (and a few bombs of other letters, too) then click on down to the video below. Bear in mind that this is a red band trailer, so as always it is NSFW.

Some films warrant red bands more than others, but We’re the Millers doesn’t seem like a movie calling out for an extended, dirtier look. Most of the footage present here is the same stuff on display in its myriad trailers and TV spots. The ideas are still the same, but this trailer cuts away just a little less so we can hear the swear words in the jokes we’ve already seen. And in one case, a naked butt.

Thurber has a respectable track record for comedies that border somewhere between genius and idiocy (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and the original Terry Tate: Office Linebacker short), but We’re the Millers doesn’t seem like it’s quite up to par. Maybe all the movie’s biggest laughs are hidden out of sight, away from the trailers, and that seeing the movie in its full form is the way to go. But judging by this red band, which would presumably have a few more of those hidden gems, it’s not super likely.

We’re the Millers hits theaters August 7, 2013 and stars Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Aniston, Ed Helms and Emma Roberts.
