Tig Notaro

Probably nobody has been hankering to see a movie set in the thrilling world of voice-over acting, but the world that writer/director/star Lake Bell has created for her new indie, In a World…, seems like a world that’s probably going to be charming and funny enough for you to want to visit it anyway. Or, at least that’s how the trailer makes it look, but who can trust what you see in trailers? The trailer for In a World… is all about the empty showmanship that goes into trying to sell movies with trailers. What can’t be faked is that Bell’s amazing supporting cast is one that includes names like Tig Notaro, Demetri Martin, Rob Corddry, Ken Marino, Geena Davis, Nick Offerman, and many others though, or that the film won the award for screenwriting at Sundance, so you can feel safe giving this Meta ad about a movie about ads a watch anyway.

What is Casting Couch? It’s the casting news roundup that finally gets to stop talking about Walk of Shame, which was really being something of an attention hog lately. Some real bad news hit today for everyone looking forward to seeing what a trainwreck Ben Affleck and Kristen Stewart starring opposite of each other as romantic interests would have been. Affleck announced that, due to his busy schedule of being a busy person, he’s not going to be able to act in Focus after all. This means that the Glenn Ficarra- and John Requa-helmed pic will have to find someone else to vibe with Stewart as its in-the-mood-for-romance con artist, and Affleck is going to have to stick to directing movies, a place everyone seems to feel way more comfortable with him being in anyway.
