RollerCoaster Tycoon Will Be a Movie For Some Reason

Let’s say you just wrote a great comedy featuring a young man who inherits his uncles thriving amusement park, and he’s thrilled at first, but then he realizes the challenge inherent in owning and operating an entertainment beast. His friendships fall by the wayside, his stress and success gives him a huge ego, and ultimately he makes a change to bring everyone he loves back into his life while finding a workable solution for keeping the park open.

You’re out of luck.

According to Heat Vision, Sony plans on doing what I have to imagine is something similar, slapping the title RollerCoaster Tycoon on it, and denying you your first big sale.

The reason for adapting the game is simple – because it has name recognition. It has a built-in audience. It just so happens that that entire audience lives in 1999.

Oh, and because you can hire the guys who wrote Norbit to write it for you. David Ronn and Jay Scherick, the ball is in your court now to deliver some amazingly passable comedy that will make Sony an awe-inspiring Return on Investment.

I’ll let you know when I stop laughing.

What the?

Writer’s Note: I will eat my words if they find a way to make the movie truly interactive so that I get to decide how to build the theme park, how many restrooms to include, and when to make the giant space robot attack or whatever.
