‘One Chance’ Trailer: Dreams Do Come True, If You Can Make It Past Simon Cowell First

Have you been feeling particularly uninspired lately? The new trailer for One Chance, the story of 2007 Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts, has just been released, and it will likely make you want to get up from whatever desk you’re currently sitting at and follow your childhood dreams. Because they do come true.

James Corden plays Paul Potts in the film directed by David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada), a shlubby cell phone salesman with a passion for opera singing and no real way of making it out of his small town and into the exclusive world of his beloved art. You better believe he tries, but aside from his doting mother (Julie Walters), and later on his wife (Alexandra Roach), nobody supports his frivolous dreams.

Well, screw you, dad, because Potts later goes on to apply for Britain’s Got Talent and win the whole competiton, launching him into overnight stardom because of his insane talents. Check out the trailer for yourself here:

I don’t know about you, but I’m getting the sense from the trailer that this is very inspiring, and we should all feel a sense of wonder watching Potts’ story unfold infront of us. Although as someone admittedly unfamiliar with the real-life Britain’s Got Talent and Potts, I imagine that this is a completely different viewing experience for those who watched this man sing his heart out their televisions every night.

I may be wrong on this one, but I don’t think a film has ever been made about a reality show contestant; this could be the first. And no, From Justin to Kelly does not count.

One Chance hits theaters in the UK on October 25th. There is no U.S. release date at this time.
