Nerd Art Gallery

Earlier this afternoon, Mondo, the art distribution arm of the Alamo Drafthouse empire and undoubted king purveyors of geek wall decorations, t-shirts, custom vinyl albums and other fine collector’s items, opened the doors to its brand new gallery space at 4115 Guadalupe St. in Austin. For the first time ever, Mondo will have space to present amazing art from the likes of Tyler Stout, Olly Moss, Phantom City Creative, Martin Ansin and so many more. It will also for the first time in a long time have a place to sell locally. In passing, I was told by members of the Mondo team at today’s press preview (where I spent more than a few dollars of my own money) that events are being planned, sales will happen and this new gallery won’t just be a look but don’t buy space. It’s about to become the center of the universe for geek art collectors. For a look at some of the posters — including my new favorite of all-time, the A Trip to the Moon poster by Phantom City Creative — head over to the Mondo opening gallery at From Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan to a number of David Cronenberg pieces, there’s a lot in there. But more on the actual art later. For now, we’d like to present a photo tour of the gallery. Just head on down after the jump and see Mondo’s new home.
