Mondo Tees

Ansin Scott Pilgrim Poster

Oh, that Mondo Tees. They might as well have all the security codes to my bank account and an automatic standing order for every single product they release. The latest in their line of geek brilliance is a gorgeous poster for Scott Pilgrim vs The World from artist Martin Ansin – who’s toned down his glossy palette this go ’round to create something Andy Warhol and Frank Miller’s abandoned love child might have had up on his entertainment room wall. Leave it to Martin Ansin to make Michael Cera look like an unflinching bad ass.

We have been talking about posters from MondoTees for a while now, and for good reason. Their posters exist in two places – on my walls, and in the dreams of movie gods.

This week in the world of movie posters, we explore the ever-growing phenomenon of the Mondo Tees exclusive print, something that our long-time readers and fellow Austinites know something about. Mondo Tees is the beautiful sore that grows out the side of an Alamo Drafthouse, selling t-shirts, posters and geek paraphernalia to the masses as they stumble out of the Drafthouse, drunk with movie love — and Guinness milkshakes.

Our Fantastic Fest Death Squad had to suffer through two weeks of training in order to be able to attend this year’s event. And while we’d like send you through the same program, all we have time for is a 5-step program.

Whether or not you live here in Central Texas is irrelevant, because I think we can all agree that you should be hitting up the Mondo Tees website and checking out the new line of “Badass Cinema” shirts designed by Mark Todd.

Some movie websites serve the consumer. Some serve the industry. At Film School Rejects, we serve at the pleasure of the connoisseur. We provide the best reviews, interviews and features to millions of dedicated movie fans who know what they love and love what they know. Because we, like you, simply love the art of the moving picture.
