Memoirs of a Scanner

Why Watch? If the spectrum of office humor ranges from Office Space to The Lonely Island’s “Like a Boss,” this experimental short falls right in the middle. There’s sex, violence, revenge and someone’s lunch all captured in under a minute by a flatbed scanner. A complete story told from one static viewpoint. With a kinetic song in the backdrop, it flies from one image to the next, setting up and knocking down punchlines with ease (and a little bit of blood). What’s really fantastic here, though, is how far they’ve taken what could have been a limiting concept. The result is something genuinely delightful because of its surprises. Plus, that sandwich looks really good.
