And so the great gods of remaking have come down from their throne (comprised mostly of The Flinstones: Viva Rock Vegas DVDs), and deigned to speak with us mere mortals. In their great bellowing voices, they proclaimed for all to hear: “Hey, you know it’s been awhile since people have talked about Gilligan’s Island. That could use an update.”



There are times when the glamorous life of online entertainment reporter has its trying moments. One was back when I first heard The Smurfs were going to be made into a live action film. That moment turned out to be a gold mine for silliness and it has receded into memory with only the occasional flashback. Then this happened…



In the last ten years, practices of storytelling and spectatorship in television have changed drastically, and, most likely, for good.
