Color Coded Posters for ‘Red State’ and ‘Green Hornet’

Since Halloween is over, people are already decorating for Christmas because Thanksgiving never got around to choosing official colors. To get in that holiday spirit, we’ve got a look at two new movie posters that are painting the town green and red.

The first is for Kevin Smith’s long-promised horror film about religious zealots, Red State. The other is for the Seth Rogen-starring adaptation of the classic television show, Green Hornet.

Deck the halls. It’s November.

A few things to remember here. Red State’s poster is a teaser, and may not resemble any of the final marketing materials. Smith has already stated that he’s done shooting and editing (he showed a finished version of the film at the wrap party), and he’s aiming to have it play Sundance in January. From there, it’s anyone’s guess.

The poster looks fairly standard though, except for some pointless distress and wear. Apologies if some really did have this folded up in their back pocket and used it to dry their windshield before sending it to the press. The figure in the image is great, though. It evokes the KKK and has the good sense to be oblique enough to not tell us which way the person is facing. Creepy.

Oh, good. All the boxes have been checked off for an action movie poster. Slightly slanted angles, simple tagline, guns blazing, slick logo, Seth Rogen riding shotgun.

It’s a perfectly fine poster, and it will definitely let people know that it’s a big studio release, but you could replace three elements of it and it would become the poster for Death Race or Drive Angry or Driving Miss Daisy 3D pretty easily.

Generic works, though.

What do you think?
