Deploying a point of view (POV) shot in film is a tricky proposition. It’s an intentional shift of perspective from the objective to the subjective, and it can be jarring. On occasion this is the purpose, of course, but a delicate touch is still required; you want to disrupt the flow of attention, yes, but you don’t want to go too far and knock your audience out of their suspended disbelief.

According to this new video from Screen Prism, there are four ways for sure that POV shots can be used to highest effectiveness, and the editors have selected more than 50 examples from films including Jaws and television shows like Breaking Bad to prove the point.
