Tom Jane and Ashley Greene

Here’s some news I never thought I’d have to write. Thomas Jane, your friendly neighborhood star of Hung and the man formally known as The Punisher here at Reject HQ, has joined the comedy LOL, a remake of a French comedy named after the popular internet-speak short form of “Laughing Out Loud.” He and Twilight star Ashley Greene join Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore, rounding out one of the most peculiar casts I’ve seen in a while.

You’ll note Greene as the lovely and charming gal who plays Alice Cullen in the Twilight series, a franchise that may or may not have released a movie this week. And of course, Miley Cyrus is well known to the world, for various reasons.

As for the film itself, it will be directed by Liza Azuelos, who helmed the 2008 original, and will center on a teenage girl (Cyrus) who is dumped by her more experienced boyfriend while her divorce mother (Moore) struggles to move on with her life. Greene will play a high school bad girl, a departure from her Twilight character, while Jane will play Cyrus’ father.

The premise is very simple, but word on the street is that the French version of LOL is very funny. Time will tell on the American version, as I’m still not quite convinced that Miley Cyrus can act. Jane and Greene are another story, however.
