Sigourney Weaver

Finally someone is speaking out for the little people. And by little people, I’m of course talking about the pint-sized man-breasts of Avatar director James Cameron. To their rescue comes actress Sigourney Weaver, who seems hell-bent on getting a say in this Academy Awards discussion before it’s too late.

While simultaneously promoting Avatar in Brazil and protesting the proposed Belo Monte dam in the Amazon, Weaver took a moment to speak out against Academy voters who anointed James Cameron’s ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow — director of The Hurt Locker – as Best Director this past year. She said matter-of-factly that Cameron “didn’t have breasts,” therefore he did not win the Oscar.

“He should have taken home that Oscar,” she commanded, speaking to Brazilian news site Folha Online over the weekend. It is a strike that is sure to hit at the hearts of Academy voters, causing them to have slight indigestion all day due to the guilt of choosing a historic night where a very deserving woman became the first of her gender to win Best Director over a night where James Cameron won an Oscar for a movie driven completely by technical prowess. Shame on them, indeed.
